About Chicha Morada

This beverage originated in the Andean regions of Peru and is therefore indigenous to the Inca natives of the area.

Chicha Morada is made from purple corn, fruit, and spices, which results in this deep purple color that you can see in the picture below.

Served over ice, This delicious drink is trendy throughout Peru and is served over ice .

It is found all over the country and in restaurants worldwide offering Peruvian food, but it is now consumed by all people no matter their income or social class.

When you visit Peru, the odds of finding chicha on the menu are rather high. If you are looking for an appetizer, make sure to taste Causa acevichada, which will allow you to enjoy some of the flavors of the Coastal region of Peru.

 

Other dishes you may want to taste while you visit Peru are the causa rellena, or causa acevichada, chicha morada, pulpo anticuchero and for dessert order some suspiro limeno.
