Ecuadorian dessert: Tres leches
One of the best aspects of travel is the food, and eating traditional dishes is a great way to experience Ecuador.
Due to its location, the country has bountiful seafood, fruits, and vegetables, making eating an important part of the experience tourists get when visiting.
And eating dessert is definitely an excellent option for all with a sweet tooth like us.
Today we want to share one of the traditional, most tasty, and moist desserts that we have in Ecuador.
About tres leches dessert
Tres leches is one of the nicest desserts you can find in Ecuador. Not biased at all here. 🙂
This amazing delicious dessert translates as “three milks,” which references the recipe of the cake.
The cake tres leches is made with a sponge cake that is then poured with a mix of three kinds of milk: sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and evaporated milk. Once the cake soaks the milk, it is covered in meringue or whipped cream.

Tres leches is a dessert that can be found in pastelerias, stores, and main restaurants in Ecuador serving traditional food from the country.
While doing research for this blog post, we learned that this dessert might have its origins in Nicaragua.
Nowadays, you find tres leches in most Latin American countries.
