What is aplanchado, and how is it eaten
An aplanchado is a traditional dessert from the highlands region of Ecuador.
This dessert is oftentimes enjoyed during the afternoon cafecito (coffee) in many Ecuadorian homes.
What is an aplanchado, and what it tastes like
This dessert is made with a layer of puff pastry and covered by a thick layer or coat of sugar glazing.
The flavor of an aplanchado can be described as sweet, light, and crispy.
How and where to eat aplanchado
This Ecuadorian dessert is enjoyed year-round in most cities in the highlands region.
In Quito, aplanchados are sold in stores, supermarkets, and bakeries. And sometimes, you can also find vendors selling them on the streets in small bags that are sealed and ready to bring home, eat while you drive, or take as a gift.
Although it is mainly enjoyed as a dessert together with a cup of coffee; sometimes it is also enjoyed as a snack.
