A Scenic and Historic Road Trip

The road trip from Quito to Cuenca is a journey I’ve taken over 40 times in my life. Despite knowing the route so well, this year marked the first time I visited Baños del Inca at Coyoctor and also the Desert of Palmira.  My parents, who had visited before, insisted we stop there on our way to celebrate the Fiestas de Cuenca. This unique archaeological site added a new layer of appreciation to a trip I thought I had already mastered.

If you’re planning this scenic drive, make sure to include this history-filled gem in your itinerary—it’s one of the few stops I had pending, and it was worth it!
